On Saturday, January 19th, 2008, bird enthusiasts around the Potomac River helped the DC Auduon society conduct their annual C & O canal count. Every year, this count is conducted to provide a snap-shot view of the winter bird community along the canal which is an asset to management and bird conservation in the park. Desiree Narango and three local volunteers braved the cold temperature and cloudy weather and surveyed miles 124 and 125 which are portions of the canal in Hancock, MD, just outside Morgan County. The count was the first for Nature Niche and alot of fun was had by all. Thanks for your help!

Travel Berkeley Springs sponsored a contest this year for local stores and Nature niche won first prize for best window and door decorating, Employee Desiree Adams designed the holiday windows and the theme was "The Best of Christmas" using woodland and nature inspired decorations.
